Google Friend Connect and Wedding Pictures!

Hello Ladies! I have some wonderful news! First things First! I have FINALLY gotten my wedding pictures back! I am just thrilled with them overall. All pictures were taken by Estes Photography of Orange Park, FL. You can check them out here. To check out all of our wedding photos, make sure to follow along on my other blog. Now second of all. I have been trying to do a little bit on research on this Google Friend Connect shutting down. Well this is what I have found out. It is shutting down as of March 1, 2012 for NON Blogger Blogs. If you have your blog through blogger, like both of mine are.. for example.. betterblondesam.blogspot.com and samanthasaccessories.blogspot.com, it sounds like you will not loose your followers. As long on the people following you and the blogs you follow are on a blogger domain, you should be fine! The LINKY followers widget, etc is not neccessary if you are on blogger. I hope this clears this up for some people. I have had quite of few people asking me if I knew what was going to happen. I found all of this information on google search and on blogger.com.

My Laptop

So I had this great post planned for today, I had all the picturs on it, it was all typed out, I went to hit publish post. And my laptop completely froze.. Wouldn't do anything. Then the screen of death came on.. So I took the battery out of the back of it, and unplugged it from the wall. I wait like a minute to plug it back in and put the battery back in. And it cannot start up Windows. Seriously?! Again. This is the 3rd time I have had my laptop crash. In 2 years! I must have the worst HP laptop that has ever been made. I know people who have my exact laptop and have never had one issue. So there it is. I am done with HP and I am done with Windows software. I don't even do anything on my laptop. I get on blogs, facebook, pinterest, and do my taxes. Thats it. I dont download music or movies or look at anything illegal. (Downloading music and movies is on my desktop..) So there... I am just going to go spend the money on the MAC Laptop. I have been wanting one for a really long time and I have heard nothing but good things about them. Sorry for the venting ladies, but I did have this great post planned for today. Sneak Peaks of our new wholesale line. Guess this will have to wait until Monday probably. Have a lovely weekend ladies.

Thank you to everyone who participated in our e pattern blog sale. It went great! I just placed a new slide show at the bottom of my blog. It has pictures from all of the shows from last year, along with some tarts and room sprays.

A friend of mine and her son are coming over tommorow afternoon to hang out with me while I work on tarts. I have to get ready for this upcoming show we have in Mount Dora.

So mom and I and a few other friend are all getting together and creating this new wholesale group on facebook. We are going to be offering wholesale dolls, room sprays, tarts, beeswax ornies, soap and much more at great prices. All we will need is your tax id for you to get started! We will be taking orders in advance for fall and the holidays. Stock up now. We will have minimuim orders on some items. We are hoping to have this open by April 1st. We are working really hard on getting this up and running. Make sure to click the facebook button to keep up with all of our updates.

I have been working on a few of these lately. I just can't seem to keep enough of them made for the show, they just keep selling. But that is definely a good thing. Many of the people who are ordering these are saying they are for little girls. I know if I had a little one, I'd def give her one of these. I think it's the pink that they fall in love with.

Mount Dora Spring Show

Hi Ladies! Just a quick word today, I just wanted to keep everyone updated. Momma and I will be at the Mount Dora Spring Show March 24-25. The show is Saturday and Sunday 9am to 5pm each day. We finally recieved our acceptance notice just the other day. We are so excited to be participating in it this year. She will definely be having all of her Prim Dolls and I will be having my tarts, aprons, and room sprays. You can check out all of the show information here.

We are *thinking* we are in this show the 2nd to the last weekend before March. It is the weekend March 25.. That Saturday and Sunday. I am making plenty of Easter items for this show. I am making plenty of these lovely little ladies. I made these for my Spring Show last year and these sold great! All the little girls loved them!

These Teddy Bears were made from my pattern #203 Bear Hugs. I am also making some of these for the Spring show this year, hopefully everyone will like these again :) I plan on making them with different color bows with pink, green, and blue.

These Raggedy Kleenex Covers. These were also made from my pattern #210 Raggedy Kleenex covers. The pattern contains the instructions to make the Prim version and the cutesty pink raggedy :)

I'm going to make some of these too. E Pattern #204 Peter Rabbit.

And #205 Peter Rabbit. Everyone seemed to love this one because he is more prim :)

Hi Ladies!

Thank you so much for all of your input on the webset and on my new name! It is very appreciated! I am in the process of changing of my web site now, this might take a little bit because of how picky I tend to be. I am creating a new facebook page for Southern Belle Scentz. And I am also changing my URL of this blog to southernbellescentz.blogspot.com. I have found the option to do this on my blog BUT I want to make sure I don't loose my followers before I do this. Does anyone know if this will affect my followers or if I will loose my follower?

I also have a NEW Email Address. Please DO NOT use samanthaschmidt90@live.com. I had signed up for the mypoints.com and now I have nothing but junk mail from them and other web sites. I woke up this morning and had 24 emails for them. So please use southernbellescentz@live with any comments or questions.

And lately I have been having a ton of emails from people wanting to know where there e patterns are about 2 minutes after they pay for them. Okay Ladies. I need some more opinions.. So I have chosen my new name.. Southern Belle Scents

Well the URL name is already taken southernbellescents.com So how does southernbellescentz.com sound?? Im going to focus on tarts and room sprays and more wholesale. I am still going to be making aprons for a few shows this year though and they will also be available on my etsy page.

And now I am looking for a whole new web page design/look. Last year momma helped me find the one I have now with the sewing machine, etc. But since I am not focusing on sewing items, I am wanting a new look! Even though I do LOVE the one I have now. These are the two web sets I am currently debating about. Please let me know all of your opinions on the name and the web sets. Good and Bad Opinion Please! Thank You! I appreciate everyone help!

Rum Ball Recipe

I wanted to share this recipe with everyone. Momma and I made a double recipe TWICE just so we had enough to give out to some of our neighbors and for Chris to take some to work. And they were such a hit. Everyone and I mean everyone loved them!

Rum Balls

2 1/2 cups vanilla wafers

1/2 cup rum

3 TBSP Bourbon or brandy

1 cup ground pecans

1 cup powdered sugar

2 TBSP cocoa

3 TBSP karo syrup

Roll vanilla wafers between wax paper to crush. Add all dry ingredients together. Mix well. Add rum and bourbon or brandy. Drizzle karo syrup over mixture. Mix thoroughly, this is real sticky, so I just use my hand. Roll into balls, then roll in powdered sugar.

I have just re evaluated my tart line. I have taken away a bunch of scents and added a few newer ones. All the pumpkin scents will be back in the fall and the holiday scents will be back for Christmas. I am still out of stock on the tart warmers. I never thought of adding descriptions until now. Some scents are self explanatory while others are definetly not, such as Amish Friendship, and Grandmas Cupboard.

New Pattern and a DIY

Angel Feather Oranment DIY. What you need:

Clear ornaments balls with removable tops

White Feathers

Ribbon

Card Stock

Your angel feather saying

Place a few feathers into the ornament balls. I bought mine from Michaels, and choose the glass ones over the plastic. I just thought they looked nicer that way. Tie a ribbon onto the top of the ornament. I would choose a smaller size ribbon because it is much easier to tie than bigger width one. I just googled the angel feather sayings I found and these came up. I modified them a tiny bit, found a angel image and printed them onto card stock. I made my cards about the size the business card so they wouldn't be too big. I added a pdf freebie in the box at the bottom of my page for you all to download.

Lollipop Tarts

So momma and I were searching around the web for some new tart ideas for Christmas and we came across these. Tart Pops. The pattern is available from Brideway Primitives. I bought it off of PrimPattern.com. We dipped the wax into sprinkles to add a cute touch to it. And we also have them availabe in two flavors. Hot Cocoa and Maple Walnut Fudge.

We also went and found the molds for Gingerbread Men and Reindeers. All the molds are acutally for candy making and have been purchased online. The Reindeers we are making in Peanut Butter Cookies scent and the Gingerbread Men and a gingerbread scent.

So momma and I made this deal last week before my show. She helped me make tarts in order to get enough done for my show because I was running so short on time and everything. I was either running out of wax, oil, cups.. It will always something. I guess i just hadn't realized how many I had sold. But thats a good thing! But anywho, so that means I am helping her to little things to get ready for her show. Now I am not nearly as talented as her, but I definetly try! Like I made these little guys here. Santa Bottle Cap Ornaments. These make up pretty quick over all and sell wonderful. Everybody loves them. We always take a tree and decorate them with it at the show. I'm just doing last minute little things to help.

I havent really gotten to see her in such a long time. Her and her husband live over in California. She was also my maid of honor in my wedding this past October.

Back from the show

Well, we made it back from the show. It was a great show for us. Got rid of a lot of tarts and aprons. Chris came up on Saturday and sat with me on Sunday. It gave my mom a chance to sit with Carmen and visit. I posted a few of my booths for you. I had a double space. Quite a few vendors didn't show up. It was not as crowded as it has been in the past. But this was my first year as a vendor. I hope to come back next year.

I had so many different scents of tarts, that I had to borrow some baskets from Carmen to put them all in.

I came back with only 2 tart warmers, they did extremely well, along with the tarts.

The first day, it seemed like everyone wanted children's aprons, then the second day, everyone wanted the adult aprons.

I did quite a few different scents in the room sprays, Amish Quilt, MacIntosh Apple, Apple Dumpling, Pumpkin Souffle, Cinnamons and Gingerbread to name a few.

I added a few little extras to the tarts this time, for some of the Christmas scents I added some pine greenery and tiny pine cones.

My newest scent flew off the shelf. It was called Toasted marshmallow. I had little marshmallow embeds to put on the top of each.

And of course, the show favorite is always Amish quilt. I had some cloves and cinnamon stick pieces. Well, now I have to get busy and get some things ready for my mom's show Thanksgiving weekend. Hope you all enjoy the pics.

It's already that time again. And I am just super excited. This is my absolute favorite time of the year. Last year I didn't get to enjoy it or decorate as much as I would have liked.. At all.. This year we are decorating much more. Better Homes and Gardens has some wonderful articles out right now. Front Porch Decor is a huge one. Now I LOVE this Christmas tree on the front porch of this home here. These are just a few of my favorites. Check out many more pictures and diy here.

Something fun to do

This has been a busy week for me. I had some orders for the Grinch pillow. I had forgotten how much I liked him. My show is this coming weekend In Moutrie, Georgia. I get to see my good friend Celena, we are staying at the motel together for some girl time. My mom gets to stay with Carmen.

But I wanted to share this easy and fun project with you.

These are quick and easy to do. They look great poked in flower pots and even in the yard. I used styrofoam discs that were 6"-8"-10" in diameter. I bought cellophane paper in red and greens, since that seems to be the colors that are in this year. Bright and cheery.

Cut your dowels to the desired length. You can paint the dowels before if you like. I painted mine with black paint.

Poke hole in styrofoam, then hot glue the dowel in place. Make sure your hole goes straight up into the disc.

Take your paper and fold over the lollipop, making it even on both sides. Your lollipop will be sandwiched in between the paper.

Take your edges and bring down around the dowel. Arranging the folds as you like. Tie a piece of jute or fabric around the paper and pull tight and tie in a bow.

Micanopy 2011

I had my craft show in Micanopy this past weekend. And It went absolutely splendid. ** Except for the rain. ** Learned a few things that I will definetly do different for another outside show.

We did end up taking the white siding down, that morning though. We had to wait on it to stop raining.

Yep, Thats me. Ready to do some work. Representing my Florida Gators.

See all of those wet spots. Well we set up everything, and I mean everything the night before the show and the weather was fine. We go home which is about 1 hr away. At about 2 am is starts like pooring down rain. I didn't wake up until 5:30 to go to them show. My dad had just sent me a text saying "Im at your booth in Micanopy, Everything is fine. See you when you get here" I'm like Oh My God. What happenned? Is it flooding over there? Our tent apparently holds water really bad and will collapse on itself. My dad got up at 3 am, left his house by 3:30 am and was there by 4:30 to save my stuff from being ruined from all of the rain. He took all of my aprons down, tarts, etc and put them all in his car. I felt so bad. I was like you should have woken me up. I would have came down here. But you can see how bad it rained. My aprons were wet, table clothes, standing water on the concrete. Luckily my next show is indoors at Calico in Moultrie Georgia.

The McIntosh Craft Show

This past weekend, mom and I shared a booth at the McIntosh show right outside of Gainesville. Tommorow I go to set up for Micanopy with my own booth. We just got home from our week long honeymoon Saturday evening. I have been working hard since I have gotten home. It just seems like I cannot get caught up at all. Morroco Temple Fall Show

I'm now making rag quilts for my shows this year. Pink and green. Pink and black. Each square is 8" x 8" . Approx 48" x 48". These only take about a day to make.

I'm making room sprays for my shows also now. I'm only making about 5 scents per show. Although, every scent I have available in tarts, the matching room spray is also available.

I am also making hair bows and barrettes. Some clips have bows, or rosettes. You have the choice of alligator clips, and french barettes. I have just updated my facebook with these and a bunch more pictures. Please go and check it all out here!

Day 21 Rag Garland Tutorial

I have had a wonderful fellow blogger request for a rag garland tutorial. The picture above is a rag garland on a strand of lights. To make the lighted rag garlands I use a 20 light strand or sometimes 35. But today, I am showing you a beaded rag garland tutorial.

I start by using 6 different fabrics. Usually 3 different colors. 2 Reds. 2 Greens. 2 Blues. Tear fabric into 1.5" -2" strips. Rip and cut off all the stray and fray edges and ends.

Take a set of read beads, you can usually find these beads at walmart at Christmas time. Cut the set of beads in half. Then cut a piece of jute. I usually make my piece of jute a little too long, but I hold the jute in one hand and stretch it out to my other hand, twice. So I'd say about 5 ft to 5.5 ft long.

Tie a knot with a loop at the end of one side of the jute. String on all of the red beads. Do NOT tie off the other end of the jute.

Start by tieing a piece of fabric onto the jute with the beads. I place a bead - fabric - bead - fabric - bead - fabric etc. And when you get to the end of the the beads and fabric, tie a knot with a loop at the end. Make sure again to cut off all frays in the fabric.

And you are done. I hope this tutorial was easy enough for you ladies to follow!

I decided to make up some Christmas bags to show you ladies. These take NO TIME to make at all. They are great to put gifts in at Christmas time. I bought these small brown paper handled bags at Hobby Lobby last week with mom.

I found these small felt Christmas stickers* in the Christmas section of Hobby Lobby. Take a couple of these and stick on to the bags for decoration. A few of the Merry Christmas ones and tress didn't come "pre sticky" so I used a dab of white glue to attach them.

And your done! Add some ribbon or rafia to jazz it up if you would like!

Hi ladies! Here is a new tag pattern. These stitchery tag ornaments stitch up pretty quickly and are pretty simple to do. Each tag is approx 2.5" x 5" and there is 5 different tags in the set. Day 11 Tutorials

I've started making bows to little girls hair. I am making the majority of them on barettes. I use thread to keep the ribbon on the barette and a dab of hot glue over the two thread knots.

I am also placing bows on to aligator clips. These are great to use in little girls hair bc they don't require much hair to stay into place! You can go to this website here and check out all of tutorials they have available on all sorts of types of bows! Click Here!

Day 10 Paint Cans

I made these Santa Paint Cans this weekend. These are great to use to give a gift in. Just add some tissue paper and a tag.

Take a paint can or sap bucket and spray paint with dark red paint. Let dry. Paint face onto can with flesh colored acrylic paint. Let dry. Dry brush cheeks with reddish or brown colored paint.

I used this side view for you to see where I placed the tagged onto the bucket. Hot glue (2) black buttons in place for eyes. Glue 1/2" wooden plug for nose. Hot glue sheep's wool around face. Make a moustache from wool and glue below nose. I took a little sheeps wool and make eyebrows and glue them in place. glue holly and berries to top of forehead on side. I used spray and sprayed face and can then sprinkled mica flakes on can.

I've been working on some room sprays for this years shows. A roomspray can be made into any scent that I have available from my tart scent list.

DIRECTIONS: Blend 3 to 4 parts Modifier to 1 part fragrance oil. Add water. This product will remain clear in water. (Example - use 1.5 oz. of modified Fragrance Oils to 1 gallon of water for a linen spray.)

I have a couple new Christmas aprons to show you ladies. Both aprons are in candy cane prints, with coordinating red ties. I used the McCalls Fashion Accessories Pattern M5720 to make these aprons. These are mommy and me aprons, I just didn't include the daughters aprons.

I have another freebie for your ladies. This is a Star Stitchery on a wooden bobbin. This is a great little stitchery to make on a weekend, that doesn't take a lot of time. I am making Reindeer food this year to sell at the craft shows. Here is an easy tutorial for reindeer food. I downloaded these graphics for free online. Some are from tip junkie, and organized Christmas. I made them all available in the box at the bottom of my blog.

Ingredients: Oats, birdseed, and glitter. I place them mixture into bags or jars with a label.

Step 1. Add bird seed. I add about 2 cups.

Step 2. Add oats. I also add about 2 cups. I add the same amount birdseed and oats.

Step 3. Add glitter.

Step 4. Mix everything together. Make sure to mix in the glitter very good. Bc if not it will all stay on the bottom.

Place mixture into bags and jars with labels and ties.

Day 4

Tarts are simple to make. But can take some time. I first start by using a parafin-soy wax. I order online about 50 lbs at a time. Decide how much of a batch you want to make at one time. Normally I use 20 ounces of wax at a time, which is about 2.5 cups.

Put the wax into the pot and place onto the stove with a candy thermomater. I turn my stove onto meduim high. Melt the wax but don't let the temperature exceed 175 degrees. I tend to keep mine around 140 - 150 degrees.

After the wax reaches 150 degrees and it all melted, take it off the stove. Then add your oil and color. Stir in oil and color thoroughly.

Pour into the cups or molds. Let them sit long enough for them to cool down before you move them. If you move them too soon, they can crack.

After the tarts have cooled place them in your bags and create your labels to sell them. Make sure to let the tarts sit 3-4 days before burning any of them to let the smells cure.

I've also included a short tutorial on making layered tarts. I am making seasonal Christmas tarts that are layered.

I am using molds so it is easier to see the layers. First pour in the first layer and set in freezer for about 10 minutes to cool almost completely. If you don't let them cool long enough, the colors will bleed together when you pour in your next color.

Next, pour in your second color and then repeat step 1, and place them back in to the freezer to cool almost completely again. Also make sure when you are pouring layered tarts to keep them on a smooth surface, if you don't then they wax wont sit flat/straight.

Lastly, pour your next layer of wax and place back into the freezer. This time make sure they are completely cooled! If you leave them in the freezer long enough, the tarts will just fall right out of the molds into your hands. So you won't break them or anything.

And this is what your ending tart should look like when layering them! It is simple once you get the hang of it. Just have plenty of patience when waiting on them to cool! These red and white tarts are a Christmas Special. Candy Cane. They smell amazing.
